The Opportunity Podcast: Tools and Resources from the Past 30 Episodes
When we first launched our newest addition to the Empire Flippers podcast series, called “The Opportunity,” we knew we would get some amazing insight into what buyers and sellers are doing to grow their online businesses.
Gaining insider knowledge on what actual buyers and sellers are doing in the space was exactly why we decided to name this podcast “The Opportunity Podcast” in the first place. Now that we are past our 30th episode, we thought it would be helpful for our listeners and readers alike to be presented with the top tools and resources we’ve discussed on the series so far in one easy-to-find place.
Whether you are new to the online acquisitions space or looking to exit your tenth digital asset on our marketplace, we wanted to highlight the top tools and resources our podcast guests have mentioned they’ve used to help them along their journey.
Here’s a list of tools, software, books, and resources we love and know you’ll find useful from our past 30 episodes of The Opportunity Podcast.
Episode 2 with Barry Deen
In this episode, we sat down with Barry Deen, the CEO of productadvisor.com and the owner of a large portfolio of Amazon Associates and affiliate assets. Barry gave us his insight on how to start small and scale a growth-focused portfolio along with the secret sauce to finding great Amazon Associates acquisitions on our marketplace.
Barry is well versed in the content site space, and some of the tips he gave our listeners included starting small.
“If you are just starting out, there’s a lot of basic skills you’re going to have to learn. I would say, most importantly, start small. If you’re looking to purchase a website, start with an amount that you would be not too upset if it went to zero. Because really when you think about it, it’s like you’re paying for an online course, you’re going to learn a lot of things about SEO, or WordPress, or whatever content management system, search engine tools, site speed, and competitors. There’s so many little things, and if you’re just getting started, you’re going to have to scrape your knees and make mistakes.”
– Barry Deen
Barry and his team focus primarily on search engine optimization (SEO), and two of the tools they have used that have helped move the needle in gaining better rankings are Ahrefs and Semrush.
Ahrefs
Ahrefs is a backlink authority checker and digital marketing tool that provides valuable information about backlinks and SEO. One resource he mentions in this episode that has helped him through his career in coaching people through the process of optimizing their operations is Traction.

“Contrary to the popular belief conveyed by various “money gurus” who advocate gradual wealth over 40 years, there is a fast lane to wealth. The book explains a motorway that MJ DeMarco took as an entrepreneur starting with nothing who went on to become a multimillionaire.”
Financial Freedom by Grant Sabatier
“Financial Freedom is a step-by-step path to making more money in less time so that you have more time for the things you love. It challenges the accepted narrative of spending decades working a traditional 9 to 5 job, pinching pennies, and finally earning the right to retirement at age 65. In this book, Sabatier highlights that while one’s ability to make money is limitless, one’s time is not.”
The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason
“George Clason is best known for writing a series of informational pamphlets about being thrifty and how to achieve financial success. “Rework shows you a better, faster, easier way to succeed in business. Read it, and you’ll know why plans are actually harmful, why you don’t need outside investors, and why you’re better off ignoring the competition. The truth is, you need less than you think. You don’t need to be a workaholic. You don’t need to staff up. You don’t need to waste time on paperwork or meetings. You don’t even need an office. Those are all just excuses.”
The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris
“Forget the old concept of retirement and the rest of the deferred-life plan—there is no need to wait and every reason not to, especially in unpredictable economic times.
